What is a D.O.?

Osteopathic Physicians (D.O.s) are one of two fully-qualified types of physicians in the (the other are M.D.s). They are specially trained in the "whole person" approach to medicine, to treat people as a whole rather than as a set of symptoms. They emphasize preventive healthcare, and practice osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) to offer our patients comprehensive care. D.O.s, like M.D.s, choose to practice in a specialty area of medicine and complete a residency program ranging from 3-7 years.
